I have problems with the idea of corporate citizens but then it’s the same problem I have with super-rich citizens (they are seemingly above the law), although you can at least theoretically arrest those. I cant tell you how much the idea of the Corporate Citizen terrifies me.
The fact that the people that run them are legally obligated to act in the interests of the shareholders to protect their investments and maximise profits essentially means they are the super-rich person legally obliged to be an asshole.
I dont see why we need them in our society, and I dont see why we cant insist that anyone owning 5% of a corporation should be liable to 5% of any criminal charge held against it, and that would include 5% of any time spent in prison.
We would soon see corporations acting responsibly
